Mock up

I made a quick mock up (not of any of my final designs) for the presentation we did to show how the braiding, print and panelling could be used to change the silhouette.

Updated Range Plan for Applied Fashion Design

Applied fashion Design Presentation

Today we had our group presentation for applied fashion design, I was put in a group with Lorin Shepardson, Hannah Lambon, Lucy Sharrock and Yasmin Sandou. We presented our collections printed and mounted onto white card, as was out illustrations. I made a fabric sample book and we handed this out as well as pinning fabric up on the board. We also made little price guide books (except Yasmin as she did not attend our group meetings) these had our design with a price for the buyer to see, we also pinned up our group mood board and a length of the fabric that we printed. I also made a sample prototype to show how the fabrics could be used within a garment, this was only quickly made so was not of any particular quality but showed the gist of the collection. We then divided up what we were saying and spoke about our own individual collections and illustrations, with queue cards with our brand image printed on them.
I think the presentation went relatively well although it would have been better if we improvised more than ready from our queue cards, but we were all well presented by all (except yasmin) wearing plaits in our hair and dressing smartly.

Illustration idea one

This is my first attempt at my illustration (will be one of three) im unsure about it, it fits my usual style but I think I need to express more individuality within my illustrations and I know I can do better than this so will have another go...

Group 4 Print

As discussed we all came up with a print, the strongest was Lucy Sharrock's so we went with that one, although through discussion some changes were decided and she made these. We then digitally printed it onto a fine silk, which looks beautiful.

attempt 5:

Another attempt at the group moodboard, I (again) am not keen on the text, it doesn't fit in and therefore ruins the board, im also not keen on the imagery. At the least the colour palette is correct, time for another attempt I feel.

PPD third year assistant

Last week I assisted Nicole, my third year again, in the morning she got me to watch and make sure her digital print went well, she had three metres so this took all morning, but was inspirational as i was going to be digital printing on the monday for my group project. She had a fun purple floral print which incorporated the rib theme into with different sized illustrations, she printed this onto silk and am interested to see what she does with it. In the afternoon we had a presentation with Aidrian about paying attention to detail etc, them she got me to research swing tickets for her, trace a block for a jacket whilst Zara photographed her lay plans. This week Nicole was unfortunately unable to attend the lesson so I helped another third year by tracing off more blocks for her and doing some branding research and photocopying.

PPD third year assistant

For PPD2 as we did last year we are assisting a third year student on fridays, I have been paired with Nicole, who is basing her collection on the skeleton, her designs are very interesting and structured, and involves 6 very interesting looking coats, she has worked very well with coming up with some innovative sleeve ideas.
