Dissertation Proposal
I intend on looking at how people use fashion to identify themselves, and how this identity can be altered so whether people can change the way that they are perceived socially with the clothes they choose to wear and if fashion allows people to create new identities for themselves with specific relation to gender. I also want to look into the expectations of the ways in which someone should dress in certain places, for example work and whether the fashions you wear change the way you act. I want to look at this mainly in terms of gender issues and also look at clothing which is seen as specifically masculine or feminine and why someone may choose to cross dress and general issues within clothing and gender issues for example gender dysphoria and dressing as the opposite sex at the beginning of a sex change. I may also look into transgender model issues and male models being used as females. |

Work placement
On Friday I will start my work experience with Ivor Nylander and Nylander Couture in Islington, London. A friend of a friend has been kind enough to let me stay with them in Camberwell so i don't have too far to travel as getting there from petersfield may have been a bit of a nightmare. I am so excited to start placement and see how a fashion company is run and learn more about garment manufacture for the high end, I am also excited to work and help out as much as I can in preparation for me entering the world of work this time next year. I also so excited to experience living in London whilst working for two weeks as this is ideally where I want to go as soon as I finish Uni, although I may wait until the olympics are over! Roll on Thursday evening!

Leeds Fashion Show 2011
I am planning on entering a 6 outfit collection for Leeds Fashion Show 2011 with my friend and course mate Lauren Carande. We have decided to brand our collection with the name 'daize designs' with the logo above, the collection will involve a pastel/neutral colouring fashionable pieces. I am very excited to do this and get pattern cutting and making.
The collection will be eco friendly and we have sourced all eco friendly fabrics.
