Interdisciplinary; Metamorphosis

We have been given our new task for the beginning of our interdisciplinary module, in preparation we are to take a definition, a discipline and a technique to create a sketchbook of fabric samples and research and 6 professionally presented fabric samples. I am quite excited about this and really want to explore how creative and inventive I can be, I have chosen 'any complete change in appearance', fine art and fuse. i have chosen these because they will allow me to very open with materials which will then allow me to be very creative with the samples I produce.

Creative Design Practices

Today I handed in the creative design practices project that I have been been doing for the last 5 and a half weeks, which started off by completing trend and shop reports with also a visit to Temple Newsam. At first I didn't feel massively inspired by Temple Newsam which lead me to research things which didn't link therefore couldn't focus on one thing. After managing to do this I found it much more inspirational, and when it came to actually designing garments from my research I really began to enjoy it and found it very interesting.

Print Making Workshop

Today I attended an induction to the print workshop so I can go in and use the facilities whenever I want. Although I already know some of the basic's with screen printing we were shown some new things as well, as there are many different ways you can print for example using a 'glue' and then heat pressing it with foil to create a shiny foil effect, we were also shown the digital print facilities and I am now able to use these as well, it will be good fun to have a practise with this some time soon.
